South Tyrol mountain resorts

The South Tyrol mountain resorts on the Alpe di Siusi are: Fié allo Sciliar (German: Völs am Schlern), Castelrotto (German: Kastelruth, Ladin Ciastel) and Siusi (German: Seis am Schlern). Castelrotto is the most important Alpe di Siusi mountain resort, which has conserved the local traditions very well, apart from being a dream-like holidays in Italy destination for summer and/or winter vacations.

Fié allo Sciliar is one of the most famous and popular Alpe di Siusi mountain resorts, considered in 1835 already an ideal destination for wellness holidays, as “rich in therapeutic waters, in a quiet position with a healthy climate”. Many noblemen, not just from Austria but from Russia as well, spent their holidays in Italy here.

 

Siusi allo Sciliar

Siusi allo Sciliar is located at 1004 meters of altitude, in a very sunny point on the Alpe di Siusi. Many Middle Ages poets wrote about this Dolomites mountain resort; at the beginning of the XX century many celebrities, such as Arturo Toscanini, spent their South Tyrol holidays here. Going eastwards from the center of Siusi allo Sciliar there’s the Parco Naturale Sciliar- Catinaccio (German: Naturpark Schlern-Rosengarten), one of the most beautiful and uncontaminated in South Tyrol, where it’s possible to organize hiking trips and pic-nics. In Piazza Wolkenstein (German: Wolkensteinplatz) the “farmers’ market” takes place from 8am till 12am, where you can find many typical South Tyrolean products and even find interesting bargains!
